Finally, the delegation was pleased to visit the Royal Commission for AlUla and meet with its representatives and a number of archeologists to discuss future opportunities of cooperation in this scientifically-promising context. The delegation took the opportunity to acquaint with the extensive field work conducted by the European archeologists present in AlUla, many of whom are students and researchers from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, but also members of the Archaïos scientific research society. The visit ended in AlUla between 21 st and 23 rd October, where the delegation was delighted to meet with the French Agency for AlUla Development (AFALULA), along with representatives from the French Embassy in Riyadh, before visiting together key historical and cultural sites, namely the Old Town, Dadan, Harrats Belvedere, the AlUla oasis, Hegra, the Maraya Business and Special Events Centre and Jabal Ikmah. Following the ceremony, the delegation had a meeting with the UBT to draw an appraisal of the Law Summer School and to reflect on its future editions. The delegation was delighted to award them their certificates of completion in the presence of representatives of the UBT, as well as the Consulate General of France in Jeddah. Organised by the Centre for Middle East & North Africa of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne’s International Relations Department, the joint programme offered courses in Public International Law, International Commercial Arbitration, and Environment and Energy Law to 80 students. On 20 th October, the delegation was welcomed by the University of Business & Technology (UBT) in Jeddah, to attend the certification ceremony of the third edition of the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne & UBT Law Summer School, which was held in June 2021. The delegation also visited Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) and King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology (KACST) both established in the capital city, to identify potential areas of scientific cooperation. The visit started in Riyadh where the delegation, accompanied by the French Embassy’s cooperation attachée, met with King Saud University (KSU) to work on strengthening the existing partnership between the two universities, notably in the field of archaeology.
